Watching the major party conventions on television sure bring back fond memories. I attended my first Republican National Convention in 1992, and saw President George H.W. Bush renominated at the Houston Astrodome. The event was amazing. Former-President Ronald Reagan addressed the enthusiastic crowd and praised his successor. I find it hard to believe that twenty years have gone by. So much has changed....
I was a teenager at the time, but I knew we had a clear choice. During those humid days in August, I was cognizant of the fact that the American people had to make a vital decision. We could take one of two very different paths. (Ross Perot had pulled out by then, only to re-enter later).
We had a strong and brave President in office. He was opposed by a morally challenged and corrupt Governor. They had two very different agendas.
One candidate was a war hero with a strong executive record. The other was a coward with a weak executive record. One was fiscally responsible. The other was a tax and spend liberal. One presented himself with honesty and integrity..."What you see is what you get". The other presented a smooth, nicely packaged, but false "I'll be your best friend" mask. Nevertheless, to me, the choice was crystal clear.
Sadly, the American people fell for the mask. The nation made a choice and we wound up with President William Jefferson Clinton. I now feel that 1992 marked the last free presidential election, thus far, in my lifetime. By "free", I mean people lost interest and passion. After 1992, the major parties morphed into one. No one seemed to notice. Senator Bob Dole's candidacy in 1996 was a joke... a gold watch for the retiring Dole.
Somewhere along the way, the two parties seem to have, literally, merged. I won't re-live the past twenty years of presidential politics in this article. They'll be plenty of time to examine that later. I'm concerned about 2012.
The differences between President Obama and Governor Romney are minimal. Do you like Obamacare? If you do, vote for Obama! If you don't, vote for Romney! He implemented a similar taxpayer robbing plan in Massachusetts.
Many others have noticed that the two candidate's policies are one and the same. The left wing, anti-American billionaire, political activist George Soros recently told Reuters; "Between Romney and Obama, there isn't all that much difference." Soros is comfortable with both.
Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney agree on many controversial issues. I'll list a couple of them:
1.) In the name of "National Security", the government may kidnap citizens of the United States or any nation and torture and detain them, or even murder them without trial.
2.) We must escalate the useless 40 year "War on Drugs" and keep the prison industrial complex going! After all, jails and prisons accommodate 2.2 million plus inmates on minor drug charges.
Obama and Romney are one and the same. A vote for Romney is a vote for Obama, and vice versa. What can we do about it? Visit with the Libertarian Nominee, Governor Gary Johnson! Check out his website

Mr. Johnson has a solid, fiscally responsible record as New Mexico Governor. During his eight years in office, Governor Johnson:
- Created 20,000 new jobs.
- Cut taxes 14 times- while NEVER raising them.
- Vetoed more waste spending bills than all Governors combined. This earned him the nickname
"Governor Veto".
- Restored his state's General Fund Reserve to $222 million dollars, up from $28 million.
- Left office with New Mexico as one of the only four states in the nation with a balanced budget.
Governor Johnson believes in the rights bestowed upon us by the Constitution of the United States. He will fight for our liberty. Why is the media ignoring his campaign? Ask them! Ask the major stations! Ask their affiliates! Call the polling organizations and ask why his name is not included! Do your research and make a responsible decision.
I'll ask the old question: Are you better off now than you were four years ago? Are you better off now than you were eight years ago? If you are, good for you! You're part of a very small group.
Please do some research on Governor Johnson. Send him an email. He is the BEST candidate for President of the United States. You owe it to your family, friends, and yourself... Make a responsible decision. Don't vote party line. Don't vote Obamney!
